With one of the most pristine beaches of Orissa, Gopalpur is a quiet resort and offers a splendid treat to sea-worshippers. It is located about 16 km from Berhampur. Once a bustling seaport, Gopalpur is today a picture of serenity where one can peacefully meditate on the joys of life. The crumbling walls and pillars of the jetty are a silent reminder of Goapalpur's past commercial prosperity. There are now plans to revitalise the port and make it fit for modern ships. Gopalpur is also a surfer’s delight and is equally popular for sailing. The sea is spell-binding during monsoons from mid-June to late August.
