DAY 1: ARRIVE DELHI Arrive in Delhi. You are met upon arrival and escorted to your hotel.
DAY 2: DELHI SIGHTSEEING In Old Delhi, visit the Red Fort, Raj Ghat, Ashoka Pillar and the bustling Chandni Chowk bazaar. In the afternoon, tour Lutyens’ New Delhi with a drive along Rajpath to Rashtrapati Bhawan, the President of India’s residence and India Gate. Follow this up with a visit to Humayun’s Tomb, Qutab Minar and Birla Temple.
DAY 3: DELHI – VARANASI - SARNATH Fly to the holy city of Varanasi located on the banks of the scared Ganges River. On arrival, you are escorted to the hotel. In the afternoon visit the stupas, the ruins of Sarnath which was the scene of Buddha’s first sermon.
DAY 4: VARANASI - KHAJURAHO After a refreshing sunrise on the Ganges River on a boat ride and a walk through the old city, fly to Khajuraho, capital of the 9th to 13th century Chandela Dynasty. On arrival you’ll be escorted to the hotel. Visit the Western group of temples for the most spectacular set of temples, including the Kandariya Mahadev temple, a symbol of Chandela art at its best.
DAY 5: KHAJURAHO - AGRA In the morning, visit the Eastern group of temples. Less ornate than the Western Group, they symbolise the inherent simplicity of Jainism. Later, drive to Jhansi to take the train to Agra. En route visit the medieval town of Orcha, city frozen in the 17th century. On arrival in Agra you are met with and transferred to the hotel.
DAY 6: AGRA Early morning visit the spectacular Taj Mahal for a sunrise view. After breakfast visit the Agra Fort. Afternoon at leisure. Re-visit the Taj Mahal at sunset (optional). Overnight in Agra.
DAY 7: DRIVE TO DELHI En route stop at Fatehpur Sikri, a masterpiece blend of Muslim and Hindu architecture. Continue to Delhi.
